Robotics is a 8/9-week elective class offered to ESM 6th grade students. We use Lego Education EV3 Mindstorm to build robots and to complete certain challenges. The focus of the class is not so much on building robots, but on programming robots. We use Scratch at first to become familiar with using commands, sequences and loops, and the Swift language later to learn more about programming and to program the robots. This is an exploratory, hands-on, project-oriented class that fosters computational thinking, cooperation, and independence. See class syllabus here.
